7.25 (above average) Charming characters, though there's too much BL stuff for my taste. The story is interesting, though the entire plot was still rather under-developed. I hope there's a season 2.
Brilliant artwork and great music. Love the "Raggs Requiem" by Noria. It's a soothing tune that sticks to your head without being annoying.

7.00 (above average) Like everyone, at first I was a bit troubled by the scriptwriter's idea of making a chubby, spineless boy the protagonist of the story. It's not like I have anything against fat people, but it's highly unusual (and rather unwise) for such thing to happen coz anime is all about making characters attractive. But gradually Haru starts growing on me and I get more sucked into the story and I suddenly realised I've got over his appearance. The show has exceeded my expectations, and things start picking up when Silver Crow sprouts wings. I see well-handled character development and smart battle tactics. But then it starts to get a bit repetitive and boring.

9.75 (excellent) I was first attracted to this anime by a wallpaper featuring the female main character Misaki Mei right here on Minitokyo. I started watching the first episode just after midnight and I just couldn't stop until I told myself that I had to catch an hour of sleep before going to school.
The dialogue at the beginning intrigued me right away. It only took about 5 seconds for me to know that this anime is no trash. The art is stunning.
The plot is thick with mystery and suspense but does not frustrate me at all. It is full of surprises and keeps me on the edge of my chair. It becomes less and less like what I have initially expected of this anime - in the good sense.
The highlight of this anime apart from the fascinating plot is, of course, the atmosphere and the mood. Dark, eerie and desolate. The repetition of pregnant silence. The croaking of crows. The echoes of footsteps. The flickering lights. The hushed conversations. All these made me hold my breath and remain as still as a statue while watching.
Marks deducted for the ending. It's not exactly bad, but I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed. The last two episodes are filled with deaths that seem unnecessary and understated. To put it simply, the killing has gone so over the top that it has lost the original subtlety which is what makes the entire ordeal so horrifying. The identity of the "Another" makes sense, but the conflict within Kouichi Sakakibara does not come through well and fails to move the audience because the emotional bond between him and the "Another" has never been mentioned in great lengths, unlike in the manga.
But on the whole, it's a beautiful and unique series that belongs to a genre that isn't frequently attempted in anime.

9.00 (very good) Likable characters. A rare anime that has a great plot even after it diverts from the original manga. I particularly appreciate the theme about family and friendship. The artwork is of really high quality. The blue flames are stunning. I also really appreciate the wonderful job done by the seiyuu cast. Fukuyama Jun and Daisuke Ono!!!!!

9.00 (very good) Out of all the manga based on "Alice in Wonderland" I've read so far, "Are You Alice?" is my favourite. I've waited long enough for a boy to play Alice! THe suspense is heavy and really gets the story going. I can't wait to see where it goes and it would make an awesome anime.

Black Lagoon

Last Updated: Sep 08, 2012

8.75 (very good) I couldn't resist trying Black Lagoon after seeing some people compare it to Jormungand (which I absolutely adore) while some regard such comparison as an insult for Black Lagoon. I just had to decide for myself. And in the end, I've reached the conclusion that the resemblance between the two anime was merely superficial (guns, badass females and shady deals) but personally I prefer Jormungand's more global and classy exposition to Black Lagoon's more centralised and 'vulgar' (albeit probably realistic) setting.
As a character-driven anime, Black Lagoon certainly has a fair share of intriguing characters. Rock is certainly interesting, and I cheered him on during some of his crowning moments of awesome, but his indecision and inability to adapt (which may appear as defiance of staying uncorrupted to some) bother me, especially during the last arc in Japan. Revy is likable, but I generally tend to hold a certain degree of contempt for extremely hot-blooded people like her. And Roberta the terminator maid is kind of ridiculous. Balalaika, the CIA nun and Mr Chang are by far my favourites.
The problem with Black Lagoon is that sometimes I feel it sacrifices too much plot development and substance for the sake of producing tense and thrilling action scenes. I would have enjoyed the show a great deal more had the subtle balance between story and action been better maintained.

Black Rock Shooter

Last Updated: Sep 11, 2012

9.00 (very good) Black Rock Shooter is much cooler than I've expected! I originally thought it would be a childish show but I couldn't be more wrong.
The art and CGI are amazing and this show is just so creative that my mind has been completely blown! I love the idea that the world of Black Rock Shooter is connected to the real world in the story and whatever happens in the real world is reflected through peculiar phenomena in the world of BRS.
So far things are still rather unclear and the suspense is heavy, but the theme of friendship has already been deeply explored. I really look forward to the next episode. :)

Last Updated: Sep 11, 2012

9.25 (very good) Shinichi/Conan is brilliant!!! Love Kaito Kid and Hattori Heiji as well. And Shinichi's mum simply kicks ass XD
The cases are ingenious and they don't ever repeat. Though the motives of the culprit are more or less the same.
Hilarious and light-hearted at times, but can also make viewers thoughtful about human nature.
There are only 2 things I want to complain about the series:
1. It doesn't make sense how Ran and those police officers never know the truth about Conan. And every time Ran came close to finding out, she was easily fooled into backing down or simply had some kind of convenient amnesia. Bugs me to no end.
2. The big plot (about the Black Organisation) drags on for too long. Is this series ever going to end???
But the movies are really enjoyable. Though once again, it doesn't make sense how people just don't SEE that Conan is Shinichi even after he fired a gun, skateboarded across two skycrapers, drove a speedboat, flew a plane, flew a helicopter...
Still, I really love the relationship between Shinichi and Ran. They are one of my favourite couples in the world of anime!!! <3

8.00 (good) Tightly-packed, non-stop action. Intriguing characters that seem unrelated at the beginning but whose fates will eventually cross one and other. Though I must say Heine Rammsteiner stands out too much from the other three main characters and it is rather hard to pay attention to the other three though they are also interesting. That is partly due to Takahiro Sakurai being his seiyuu, but mostly it is because of his uber-coolness.
I have read the manga and I find the OVAs not enough to satisfy me. I hope they will make a canon anime in the future :)

9.25 (very good) I. LOVE. THIS. ANIME!!!
Really likable characters (my favourites are, not surprisingly, Shizu-chan and Izaya-kun. But I like Celty and Shinra too XD). Awesome voice-acting (the cast is one of the things that got me watching DRRR in the first place). Wonderful theme that reflects both the bright and the dark sides of living in a city as well as reminds us that we are actually more similar to each other than we think because at the end of the day, we all belong to the same group - MANKIND :)
Marks deducted because of the ending. WHAT HAPPENED TO CELTY'S HEAD!!?? I hope there'll be a second season :(

Elfen Lied

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Jan 25, 2012

9.50 (excellent) I got to know about this anime because I heard and fell in love with the beautiful Latin song on Youtube.
Then I watched another video about the top ten craziest way to die in anime and "vector death" from Elfen Lied was on the list. The way the pink-haired, expressionless girl killed people really was crazy and I started watching the anime myself. I did not regret it.
In the first five minutes, the body count is up to 19 and the naked girl basically rips them apart limb from limb and blood splashes everywhere. Compared to this, Hellsing is like Teletubbies. It's the most messed up thing I've ever seen.
But Elfen Lied is not just about killing and trashing human bodies. Lucy/Nyu is a pitiful character and her fate is extremely tragic. The last few episodes when her past and her twisted relationship with Kouta are finally unravelled, I bawled my heart out. The storytelling is very powerful and moving.
The only thing I have to complain about is the rough artwork. Usually I find this very distracting and disappointing but somehow with Elfen Lied, I can forgive this.

Fate/stay night

Last Updated: Sep 08, 2012

3.75 (below average) The art is gorgeous, but that's far from enough to make me forgive the anime's numerous shortcomings. The plot is unbelievably thin and weak for such a compelling setting. It's really a great pity. The characterisation isn't convincing either. Emiya Shirou bugs me so much that I want to throttle him even at the risk of ridding the story of its protagonist. But seriously, the story would have been better without that loser. I really wanted to flip the table over when Saber fell for him. The romance doesn't remotely make sense, and this sentiment became even more justified after I finished watching Fate/Zero and had a deeper understanding of Saber's character. I heard Emiya Shirou wasn't this unbearable in the VN, so I can only assume the directing and scriptwriting are the biggest failures of the anime. But I also find characters like Matou Shinji and the "tiger teacher" completely ludicrous, redundant and pointless. So all in all, it's basically a whole load of visually-attractive crap which is only worth watching coz it's the predecessor and sequel to Fate/Zero.

Fate/Zero

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Sep 08, 2012

9.00 (very good) Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night are in completely different leagues. All characters are well and adequately developed, with all the Servants' personal history clearly explained. Many of them are really likable. While some of the Masters are certainly mad, none of them is actually STUPID like Emiya Shirou in /Stay Night, which is more than I can appreciate. Still, I find Kotomine Kirei's characterisation a bit queer, and I wish it was better explained through flashbacks just as how Emiya Kiritsugu's character setup is handled.
The plot of /Zero is much more satisfactory, with lots of unexpected twists and emotional moments, though it inevitably declines in quality nearing the end because the events have to lead up to those in /Stay Night. It kind of leaves a sour taste, but /Zero itself is not to blame. I particularly enjoy the banquet of the three kings and their debate on what it means to be king. It adds philosophical depths to the story and contributes much to highlighting the characters' differing ideals.
The art has improved and is stunning, and the first ED refuses to get out of my head. Not that I want it to.

Fruits Basket

Last Updated: May 21, 2012

8.25 (good) I kept seeing anime fans saying that if one liked OHSHC, one would also like Fruits Basket. So being a fan of OHSHC, it was only natural that I accept the recommendation of more experienced anime watchers.
I won't go as far as to say that I don't like this anime, but somehow it just doesn't draw me in that much. The story is sweet, the humour is nice, the characters are cute and the little message brought out in Tohru's interaction with each member of the Sohma family is great. However, Tohru sometimes really gets on my nerves with her clueless and at times down right stupid altruism. Plus, sometimes the messages are just too obviously conveyed that the blaring lack of subtlety makes the show awkward and patronising. Another reason that I'm not as attracted to the story might be that the legend of the 12 animal zodiacs to me is like what "Three Little Pigs" is to most people, seeing that I'm Chinese.
But on the whole, it's still a nice and sometimes really heart-warming show.

10.00 (excellent) It's an epic. It's a classic. It's a timeless masterpiece.
Original and unpredictable plot. Sometimes hilarious, sometimes heart-wrenching. Well-developed characters. I particularly like the 7 homunculi. Meaningful moral lesson and ends with a bright and hopeful note. All loose ends neatly tied up. It haunts you well after the last episode.
Brilliant graphics and voice acting - in both Japanese and English. Great ops and eds too :)

GUILTY CROWN

Last Updated: Sep 11, 2012

9.00 (very good) The first few seconds were all the anime took to capture my heart. The song "Euterpe" was beautiful. The melody. The lyrics. Inori's voice (provided by Chelly). It blew me away.
Plot-wise, it took a bit too long to get fully warmed up. But once things started to get interesting, the energy and pace are able to keep me engaged and gripped. The whole thing was not too original. I kept seeing shadows of Code Geass all over the place. Terrorists and the 'Power of the King' and all that. Though as the story progresses, it develops its own characteristics and tone.
Usually, I despise stories with weak protagonists. Shu seemed like one at first, but the moment I saw his eyes when he first used Inori's void, I realised he's much more interesting than he had previously let on. Though I still find his whiney manners a bit irritating at times, I see his potential in become a worthy hero.
The graphics are top-rate. And the light effects are splendid.

Gunslinger Girl

Last Updated: Apr 27, 2013

8.25 (good) I like how the show doesn't glorify or fetishise the idea of girls using guns and instead focuses on the emotional side of things. It's quite strange how such a violent show manages to keep up a relaxing tone. Great character development, but wish the mentors are more explored on.

Heart no Kuni no Alice

Last Updated: May 21, 2012

4.00 (below average) I absolutely adore "Alice in Wonderland", so I had high expectations for this series, but I was sorely disappointed.
I can't get a hang of what kind of person Alice is in the anime. She looks cute, but personality-wise, she's B-L-A-N-D. She doesn't show much emotion other than annoyance when around Peter White and uneasiness around Blood Dupre. And the show is basically about her being pushed around all the guys (yeah even the Queen of Hearts is a guy -,-) in Heart no Kuni, which is like, B-O-R-I-N-G.
In a nutshell, Heart no Kuni no Alice is just a typical shoujou series with lots of glamour and zero substance.

Hellsing

Seen: partially

Last Updated: Apr 07, 2012

8.75 (very good) I'm referring to Hellsing Ultimate here and not the original anime, which is so crappy that it shouldn't even be considered as canon.
It is a highly creative sequel to Bram Stoker's "Dracula". REAL vampires (not sparkling ones filled with angst), ghouls, Nazis, blood, gore, huge guns... Cool and exciting. But then later on I realise it's more than these. A few tearjerking moments, especially when certain important deaths happen. I also sympathise with Alucard more when his personal history is revealed. Unexpected major plot twist near the end, and when the long-awaited Girlycard finally came out I was like HELL YES KICK THAT MOTHERF***ER'S ASS!!!
Fair artwork, though I think it's getting better and better. VERY BLOODY, but that's fine with me.
Once again I have to mention how glad I am that they abandoned the original crap and remade the whole thing into OVAs and based them on the manga.

Hetalia: Axis Powers

Last Updated: Apr 07, 2012

9.75 (excellent) There are so many characters that at first it's a bit hard to recognise all of them. But soon... I can even remember all the countries' human names XDD
Very original and creative idea to personify countries and reflect their relations with each other through the characters' interaction.
The most successful thing about Hetalia is that the author managed to point out both the good and the bad things of every country humorously without being judgmental. A bit stereotypical, maybe, but that's what makes it so hilarious.
My favourite character is of course my mother country CHINA :)
I also like Hungary and Switzerland (a bit unusual). Hungary is soooo badass with her frying pan of doom and the fact that she didn't know she was a girl when she was little was just so funny! Hungary-Prussia moments are really cute~~ As for Switzerland, I guess I like him because he reminds me of Lelouch in Code Geass. Both of them are big brothers who are super protective over their little sisters XD His tsundere and trigger-happy personality is cute too :D

10.00 (excellent) One of my favourite Miyazaki movies. A story with deep meaning that deals with self-esteem, love, war and many other things. 8.50 (very good) A very strange series that's rather hard to catagorise. A crossover between butlers and yokai. Interesting and adorable characters, but the main couple are constantly outshone by the supporting characters. Great seiyuus. Mamoru Miyano and Kana Hanazawa :)
I originally expected this to be just another silly girly romance but... Well, it actually IS a girly romance, but I won't call it SILLY coz the characters keeps surprising me. And there is this certain sweetness and heart-warming quality to this show that I can't really explain...
Love the different EDs in each episodes.

Jigoku Shoujo

Last Updated: May 21, 2012

5.00 (moderate) I've got a friend who is CRAZY about this anime. I saw her drawing Enma Ai on her sketchbook and asked her about the beautiful and expressionless doll-like girl and she started gushing about the anime so I decided to give it a try. I persisted for 13 episodes and I finally gave up.
The idea is really original and creative. I like how the story does not really judge vengeance but merely points out the cost of it. It also shows that sometimes life is just so cruel that it gives people no choice but to resort to vengeance.
The art is great, but episodic shows never score well from me coz I look for plot development, which of course, cannot be found in episodic shows. So after 13 episodes, I couldn't stand the boredom and stopped watching.

9.75 (excellent) The character Koko got me into watching this. The quirky, 'snowy' (she's so white - white hair, white skin, white clothes) girl with her unfathomable smile is oddly dynamic and never ceases to surprise me. She is one of the most intriguing and compelling anime characters I've ever seen. The other characters appeared underdeveloped at first, but gradually it became apparent that the show would explore the members of Koko's team one by one.
The plot is a bit hard to understand at first (coz I'm no military expert) but it gets better and the show really starts kicking off in episode 3. I like how the setting reflects the real world and the countries interactions in the story are bases off real international situations. It makes the whole thing endlessly amusing and it also reminds us of many depressing things (child soldiers, ethnical cleansing, and of course, illegal arms trade) still happening in some parts of the world. I am up to date with the manga and I really love it. It is gratifying to see the anime remaining loyal to the manga.
Now for the down side. As I've mentioned, I'm no military expert. I heard some hardcore gun fans criticising the author's serious lack of military and arms knowledge and sometimes even I can see the gun fights don't make much sense. But still, the story more than makes up for that.

Seriously, Misaki is my idol XDD
She's smart, strong, independent, self-motivated, and practically a superwoman.
And the way Usui manages to tame that lioness is just soooooooo sweet!!!! (Aww...)
The graphics are very well-done, and Misaki is really cute in a maid uniform. Though the green school blazer is rather disgusting -v-
Still, I enjoyed this anime very much :)

Kamisama Hajimemashita

Last Updated: Sep 11, 2012

9.50 (excellent) I usually prefer shounen mangas to shoujou ones, but Kamisama Hajimemashita has this special charm and sweetness that makes me adore this series.
Nanami Momozono kind of reminds me of Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket (similarities: homeless, selfless, optimistic), though she is less irritating than Tohru. Her becoming a god is a creative and amusing idea and it's fun to see her juggling her human stuff and godly duties.
And though I pride myself with my strong resistance against handsome guys, I shall allow myself a slip when it comes to Tomoe. I like how his affection for Nanami comes gradually, with his past revealed bit by bit. It's still pretty much a mystery now, but things are starting to clear up as the story comes close to the climax. I'm waiting impatiently to see how things will turn out between the girl and the fox.
And the arts, of course, is gorgeous.

I like Kiki's adventurous, bold and sort of happy-go-lucky personality. She is a fun person and I would love being around her. She has grown up and matured after experiencing the witch version of something commonly known as a writer's block. I'm sure everyone has gone through this at some point of their lives, be them writers, painters, musicians, inventors, etc. Sometimes no matter how hard we try, we just can't feel satisfied with what we do. We get fed up and lose our confidence. This movie teaches us when we encounter such obstacle, we should simply relax and take a break. It's a simple lesson that all of us need to learn :D

9.25 (very good) Not my usual cup of tea, but I find it really relaxing and refreshing. The overall tone of this anime is soft and warm. The seiyuus' performance and even the colour palette compliment that. Each character has his/her own personality and peculiar quirks, which makes watching the interaction between the characters very amusing. It's not that I don't like my own friends, but I kind of envy the characters because their friendship is so special and sweet. All in all, this anime is a joy to watch.

7.00 (above average) Mysterious, intriguing and beautiful setting. A very original story about a Faustian contract between a demon butler and a young earl. Great start, nasty end. As the Chinese idiom goes, "the head of a tiger and the tail of a snake". The plot got very lame starting from the middle part of season one. It seemed wonderful to me before. But after I started on the manga, I realised how badly I had been fooled.
Season 2 is a bit better. I like and sympathise for Alois Trancy, though he is obviously psycho. As for Claude Faustus the new butler... I don't know. He's just weird. But the ending is the most disappointing and ludicrous I've ever seen.
The artwork is brilliant, especially the backgrounds and the clothes, but the characters have rather unnatural movements.
To put it simply, the anime has downgraded the manga.

9.00 (very good) Like all Miyazaki films, this one is a classic must-see, though it's not my absolute favourite (which is Spirited Away).
The beginning is admittedly a bit boring, but the story starts picking up as soon as the robot wakes up. Then when they finally reach Laputa, I was so moved that I couldn't even make sense of my emotions. It's a beautiful story that gives us a wistful glimpse of the kind of paradise our world could have become had it not been tainted by mankind's greed. The famous song "Kimi wo nosete" plucked my heartstrings and my tears wouldn't stop. And to be honest, I think the music has outdone the story and the song is the biggest reason why the movie is such a success.

Legend of the Sun Knight

9.50 (excellent) The novels (good thing they are in Chinese) are awesome. I really like the Sun Knight, who is the last person everyone would expect to be the always-smiling, compassionate, handsome and elegant Sun Knight because though he appears to fit all the above descriptions, only 'handsome' is true about this man. Under the facade he actually hates smiling, curses a lot and is very devious (but he is still a good person LOL). The plot is clever and there are crazy (in the good sense) and totally unexpected plot twists and the humour is great. The author is very creative and is not afraid to try out new things.
The style of the manhua adaption is a bit weird at first but the artist's skills seem to be improving.

9.25 (very good) Kaito Kid has always been one of my favourite anime characters and I am so happy that he gets a series of his own!!
This series explains why and how he becomes the magician-thief that he is, and his relationship with his childhood sweetheart, Aoko Nakamori, has been deeply explored. Seriously the two of them are every bit as cute as Shinichi and Ran in Detective Conan.
The plot is funny and exciting, though I feel a bit perplexed by Akako the witch... Her presence makes the entire story very weird...
And as much as I love the 32rd OP in Detective Conan, I kinda wish they would make a new one for the Magic Kaito series...

9.25 (very good) This is like Hunger Games times 100 in terms of violence, bloodiness and perverseness!!!!!!! Even I (an abnormally strong-stomached and not easily scared person) feel sick (or at the very least, shocked) at some points!
The plot is ingenious. That is always the case when the story deals with the phenomenon known as the time paradox. It requires four-dimensional thinking and it's just awesome!!! Love the suspense and all that foreshadowing. Nearly choked me to death but now that all the mysteries have been uncovered, it's totally rewarding.
Marks deducted for my despising the protagonist, Yukiteru Amano. He doesn't have a spine. I know his weakness is vital for the plot, but it simply gets on my nerves. He should learn from Aru Akise, a brave and smart guy to the very end.
Love the touching ending, and oh my god... there's gonna be a second season!!!!

9.25 (very good) Personally I think this series is waaaaaaaay better than Seed. The story is better, the art is more beautiful, the characters are more lovable and the whole thing just makes more sense.
Like the setting and the universe of the story. It resembles our current world a lot and that makes it easier for audience to relate to the characters.
All characters have depth, and their backgrounds are all explained clearly. They all have different reasons to fight and things to fight for, and that makes me respect them a great deal. Among them all, Setsuna F. Seiei and Tieria Erde are my favourites. Apart from their badass-ness, they are the two characters that have undergone the most changes. Also, I find it both bold and admirable to make a boy of Middle-east descent the protagonist.
Love the message of the series: Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding.
The action sequences are awesome. The characters look attractive. The music is good (nearly cried when listening to the one sung by the children). And to top it off, the cast is perfect (though I wanted to laugh every time I heard Kati Mannequin spoke in Conan's voice XD).
Marks deducted for some uncomfortably preachy moments and the slightly unsatisfying romance.

9.00 (very good) I watched this when I was 6, which makes it my first Miyazaki movie, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. Just recalling the memory brings a little smile to my face.
I didn't understand or remember much of the story back then, except that Totoro and his friends were adorable and I wanted to hug them. Now that I'm almost triple the age when I first watched the movie, I realise My Neighbour Totoro is more of a movie for adults who have grown cynical towards the world than for little kids. Rewatching it seemed to have transported me back to childhood and I could look at the world through the pure and non-judgmental eyes of a child, only with better clarity and a higher level of thinking. I think this is the 'magic' of Miyazaki-sensei: constructing a beautiful world that triggers your raw and unadulterated emotions.

10.00 (excellent) I saw Takashi Natsume featured in a video of top 10 male anime characters in 2011 and found him interesting so I checked out the anime. I became a fan immediately. He is surely one of the most dynamic and three-dimensional anime characters I have ever seen.
The funny thing about this anime is that, though it is not action-oriented or very exciting, I just can't stop watching it. The character development of Natsume from a lonely, isolated boy to a strong and happy person is well-handled and very heartening. All the stories of different yokais are touching. It's funny in the sense that this story can only work with a boy as the protagonist. Seeing miserable girls in tears isn't that strange. But being a boy, Takashi Natsume's emotions become much deeper. His fighting back tears, blushing or simply staring into empty space feels oddly powerful. This is an anime that speaks straight to the audience's hearts and it is precisely this that makes it so successful.

7.00 (above average) The art is really unique and that's sort of the reason why I started on this manga.
The whole thing about making pacts with demons isn't exactly new so the first few chapters are a bit boring, but the mystery around the protagonist keeps me reading. Then recently there is a breakthrough and part of his past is finally revealed so it seems to be getting better. I think I'll stick to it.

9.75 (excellent) A story set in a yokai world in which the balance of power is a bit like the mafia world. The protagonist is the 3/4 human 1/4 yokai grandson of the current head of the strongest clan in Japan. Interesting characters, creative plot and gorgeous art. Amazing seiyuu performance, particularly that of Jun Fukuyama. Follows the original manga loyally, which I greatly appreciate. Adore the second season and impatiently waiting for the third :)

8.00 (good) The novels are written by the author of Legend of the Sun Knight so it's guaranteed to have really original plot, odd but lovable characters and wacky humour. One-Half Prince is about a girl purposefully choosing a bishi male avatar when playing a virtual adventure game and ends up becoming a big boss with lots of females (and gay men) swooning over her (him?).
The style of the manhwa actually resembles manga a lot so it's quite enjoyable and fun to read.

8.75 (very good) Quite a heart-breaking movie about the growth of children. The mother in the story is honestly a superwoman or something. Single-handedly raise two extremely demanding children who have completely opposite personalities. It certainly makes one admire and feels highly indebted and thankful to one's mother.

9.50 (excellent) It's rare for me to watch something this light-hearted. But it's surprisingly delightful. :)
Beautifully drawn. All the hosts are handsome and dashing, and Haruhi is very cute :D
My favourite is Kyoya, coz I like brainy people. And the way his glasses flashes was very cool. But the back story of Hikaru and Kaoru was the most touching (more so in the manga though). I also like Tamaki as well as his hilarious break-the-fourth-wall moments. And I really like how he was still cheerful and optimistic even though his childhood was not a happy one.
A happy ending for Tamaki and Haruhi. It's very heart-warming :D

8.75 (very good) The style is rather similar to that of Black Butler, though the mood is not as dark. And I must say, the clothes in Black Butler are more beautiful, though admittedly I think the characters in Pandora Hearts are cuter :P
The characters are very interesting. I just love the allusion to Alice in Wonderland. Their background stories are quite detailed and I find myself sympathising and admiring Oz Vessalius a great deal for his optimistic personality even after what he has been through. And Alice is simply CUTE~ But I find her background story particularly underdeveloped. I kept waiting for the explanation for Jack Vessalius's presence in her memory but it never came.
Plot-wise, I think Pandora Hearts is another typical anime that leaves many loose ends untied. Many things went unexplained. Or perhaps they are going to make another season? If that is the case and if they do a great job with that, I will certainly be a lot more generous with the score I give to this series. :)

Princess Mononoke

9.75 (excellent) Another masterpiece of Miyazaki-sensei. It is simply beautiful. The best thing about this anime is definitely the moral of the story. It reflects how nature retaliates when humans become too carried away in exploiting her. It shows the impossible balance between developing human civilisation and conserving natural resources. It raises difficult questions like is Princess Mononoke's way of living really the best? Can the people in the iron-producing village really be blamed? In a nutshell, "Princess Mononoke" teaches us a lesson that mankind has yet to learn.
The theme song is ethereally breathtaking. Brilliant art, as expected of Miyazaki-sensei. I'm just a teeny bit disappointed with the relationship between Ashitaka and Princess Mononoke. It seems rather underdeveloped. But nonetheless, it is a must-watch :)
