9.00 (very good) Chinese culture really deserves more appreciation :)
The story is based on the Tang Dynasty of ancient China. It was one of the most prosperous dynasties in the long history of China.
From the government structure to the fashion, all the details are carefully followed.
The characters are all really well developed and I got to know all of them well and understand how they feel.
The romance is brilliant. It is not overdone nor is it contrived. Each of Shuurei's suitors are unique and special.
Beautiful artwork and the men are all eye-candies, but the original art in the novels is still better.
Shuurei is another one of my heroes. She is hard-working and self-motivated. I like how she becomes more shrewd and not so naive as the story progresses. She is the kind of genius that isn't fed up with the world and always looks at the positive side of things. She really is an admirable person.
Love the feminism message of the story :)

7.00 (above average) Hilarious. The way Death the Kid holds his double guns certainly brings a new definition to the word "COOL". Original idea of weapons being people. Though the plot starts getting screwed up by the end. Not much of a moral lesson, but entertaining enough. Still, the only thing that got me finish the whole series was Death the Kid.

9.50 (excellent) The OP in the first season so beautiful that I could weep!!!
This is a story about the journey of Lawrence the merchant and Horo the wolf. The change of relationship between them is very interesting to watch. The bickering between Lawrence and Horo is funny and sweet. Though sometimes I don't really understand the economic concepts of the plot like exchange rates and all that stuff 0___0

10.00 (excellent) Out of all Ghibli movies, this one is definitely my favourite. This is an all-time masterpiece, and it thoroughly deserves the Oscar and all the awards it has won.
While the plot isn't anything that will drive people on edge, it sure is very engaging to watch. This is a story about self-discovery. Through her journey in the spirit world, Chihiro transformed from a whiny, timid girl into an independent person that is sure of herself. The symbolism of human greed and avarice in the form of No-Face is worth reflecting on. The seriously polluted River God as well as the reason why Haku came to work for Yubaba in the first place also prompt us to think about the way we are treating nature. All in all, Spirited Away is a movie that makes people think about a lot of things.
The soundtrack, as usual, is touching as hell. The main theme 'A Summer Day', 'Chihiro no Waltz' and the ending theme 'Itsumo Nando Demo' (Always, no matter how many times), are my favourites and they really drive me to tears. Miyazaki-sensei and Hisayishi-sensei, I salute thee.
And now, some fangirling. Haku~~~ <3<3<3<3<3 ;)

Steins Gate

10.00 (excellent) A masterpiece in recent years. Creating a well-handled story about time-travelling is never an easy feat, and Steins;Gate really is the creme de la creme of the sci-fi genre.
The plot seems extremely muddled and nothing makes sense in the first episode, which has surely deterred many from continue watching, but the ending clears everything up so thoroughly that the rewarding experience of watching the anime till the end almost seems like an epiphany. It is filled with emotional moments and unconventional elements so I simply can't get tired of it.
The characters are all dynamic and believably authentic. Miyano Mamoru has truly outdone himself in his portrayal of Okabe Rintarou the self-proclaimed mad scientist. The character's apparent lack of common sense and silly flair for the dramatic are delightfully conveyed, but it is the delicate expression of the his gentleness and fierce loyalty buried beneath the surface that makes his performance so impressive and applaudable. The tsundere heroine Makise Kurisu is another of my favourite character, whose selflessness is on par with her adorableness. The interaction among the characters is entertaining enough even if one's not impressed with the plot (which I highly doubt could happen).

7.75 (good) So far a rather generic story with rather generic characters. The action is nice and the art is gorgeous. The setting is appealing but uncreative and inoriginal.

7.00 (above average) I was actually starting to get bored of all those quasi-scary-but-ends-up-it's-nothing tricks when all of a sudden the plot took a steep turn and started to get serious starting from episode 7. Before that, the beautiful artwork and the cute Yuuko-san barely managed to keep me watching the show, but the plot twist has renewed my interest and got me through the entire thing.
I wouldn't say the anime is BAD, but it's not impressive either. The romance between Teichi and Yuuko is nice, but towards the end it's kinda cliched and I got kinda sick of it.
Still, I really love the ED.

The Borrower Arrietty

Last Updated: Mar 10, 2012

9.75 (excellent) This movie by Miyazaki-sensei shows how humans always treat minorities and animals. While all of us are hating on Haru in the movie, we should all think about how we ourselves have treated other creatures, and even people with different skin colours and other forms of abnormalities in history.
The friendship between Arrietty and Sho is very subtle, which makes it even more touching. The scene when they say goodbye made me cry :")
The setting of this movie really blows me away. It opens my eyes to all sorts of interesting little things in life on which I've never given much thought or attention.
And last but not least, the theme song sung and played on the harp by Cecile Corbel is extremely beautiful. It goes perfectly with the movie and the lyrics are pretty. I love the French version :)

7.50 (good) A funny and lighthearted film by Studio Ghibli. The plot is a bit too simple and thin for my taste, but I believe it's still a jolly good fun for kids. I kept waiting for something to happen between the Baron and Haru but nothing did... The chemistry is a bit wasted.
The ending theme is cheerful and it brings a smile to my face every time I listen to it :)

2.75 (poor) Stupid plot.
All the males in the story are all pedophiles.
The girls take 5 minutes to morph into battle form in every episode.
And the protagonist uses a pink, fluffy BELL as a weapon. For Christ's sake.
If I were the villain, the show would be over in the first episode.

Trinity Blood

Last Updated: Mar 12, 2012

7.50 (good) At first this anime seems really promising. It kind of resembles Hellsing, with both Abel Nightroad and Alucard being vampires that hunt on other vampires. But the art of Trinity Blood is prettier and the naming of characters and organisations cleverer. But ultimately I am disappointed. This anime does not do the novel or even the manga justice. Lilith's name is never mentioned. She just appeared in the very very last episode without any explanation. The reason why Abel hates Cain so much to the point that he must kill him has never been explained either. The ending is extremely lame and leaves too much loose ends. The flashbacks are disorganised, abrupt and don't make much sense. And Esther becomes a completely useless, redundant and annoying character in the entire anime. She whines, prays, fangirls over Abel, cries, yells, almost kills an ambassador, almost kills Abel, then finally becomes the Queen of Albion. WTF. Epic fail.

1.00 (terrible) Basically I just hate any story that has a masochistic girl as protagonist or a plot revolving around a cheesy love triangle. And VK happens to have BOTH. It's almost like the Japanese equivalent of Twilight.
I heard my classmates talking enthusiastically about VK, so I decided to try it out. I regretted it.
